These weekend posts, a glimpse behind the scenes as I write a new book (or three) are for paid subscribers. A paid sub costs just over £1 a week (less if you go for an annual subscription!).
If you would like a paid sub but can’t afford one, email me and I’ll sort you out.
My least favourite thing at school - and then later at university, I went as a mature student at 27 - was the haven’t done my homework feeling. And now I have it every day of my everloving life. What an idiot.
So this week I started NaNoWriMo. Day 1 I did around 2200 words but most not new words, some pasted in from interviews. Day 2 I knew I still had some research stuff to look at and so I allowed myself to just do that and make any notes that came up. Didn’t even check my word count. Day 3 was a combination of the two.
So I think I’ve done 3139 words (I should be at 8335 by now).
I’m fine. It’s fine. It’ll be fine.

My favourite thing I read this week was in this book about Dolly Parton:
People don’t come to see me be me but, instead, come to see me be them.
Perfect quote for my Harry book!
I also started reading this book and it instantly thrilled me.
It’s quite stressful that I’m still finding so many things that are perfect for my book and it’s due end November. The Robbie Williams doc isn’t even out yet! But lalala it’ll be fine.
Denial’s not just a member of One Direction, as Mindy Kaling once said.
