I shouldn’t complain. Where we lived before, it rained all the time, so I should just be happy it’s not raining. But. The humidity.
I find editing hard enough. It’s so much harder when my brain is melting out of my ears.
But! Exciting news! The Harry Styles Effect went off to be typeset, after a couple of days of wrangling over a sentence that my editor just did not get. I kept trying to explain it. She kept not getting it. Eventually, I read the sentence to my 15yo, who said, and I quote:
That sounds like old people saying skibbidi… That’s in your book?? And your editor didn’t stop you? That’s one of the worst things I’ve ever heard.
