These weekend posts, a glimpse behind the scenes as I write a new novel or three, are for paid subscribers. If you are a paid subscriber - thank you! I appreciate it. If not, I would love it if you would consider upgrading. It costs just over £1 a week (less if you go for an annual subscription!)

If you would like a paid sub but can’t afford one, email me and I’ll sort you out.

This week, people. This week has been a lot. The only thing keeping me going is thinking about how good it will feel to not be doing this anymore…

And on that cheery note - my diary!

MONDAY

Telling myself not to do too much this week. We move on Saturday and I do not want to flatten myself. I can write more once we’re settled in. But also bearing in mind that moving last time broke my brain and it took me about a month to remember what meals are, etc., so grace will be needed after the move too, and yet deadlines wait for no woman (apart from the one I blew past ages ago, damn).

TUESDAY

Yesterday, I wrote in chunks, today I want to get it out of the way so I can get on with other stuff. So I set a timer for 45 mins and launched in. (Only after watching something for research that I find so annoying that sitting down to write is a relief.)

I am writing on my sofa, because at some point later today it’s being taken away by the British Heart Foundation. I’m imagining them picking it up and just tipping me off onto the floor.

(This did not happen.)

WEDNESDAY

Today I am doing something different and you are going to hear alllllll about it.
