Hello!
So I sent Happy Endings off to my agent and now this is me.
I’ve sort of taken this week off, because I’d been dreaming of a week off for so long, but it just wasn’t possible. Of course, I’m still working a bit, because I’m always working. Whenever I decide to take time off, one of the first things I do is make a time off To Do list. Ridiculous.
But I am trying to make myself walk and read and write and hang out with my boys whenever they will deign to hang out with me.
READING
I’ve seen so many people raving about this book and since When Harry Met Sally is my fave film, obviously I had to read it. Loving it so far. And some of the film parallels are so well done.
WATCHING
I don’t usually watch crime due to being a massive wuss, but Marian Keyes recommended this, so I decided to give it a go. And I love it. I love Nicola Walker and her asides to camera and her humour and her face. There’s some gory bits, but they are minimal and I don’t actually pay that much attention to the murders. I’m in it for the relationships. And for this
WRITING
No writing this week, but I’m reading and researching and, as Lani Diane Rich says in this excellent post, I’m always writing even when I’m not writing.
You can read the proposal for my Harry Styles book, along with the first three chapters of Happy Endings plus my other WIP Dead Frog Lane with a paid subscription.
(If you’d like to read it, but can’t pay right now, email me and I will sort you out.)
LISTENING
Do you know about the Daylist playlist on Spotify? Constantly updating personalised playlists that I can’t stop checking. Mine, currently:
I can’t say I’ve ever listened to melodramatic poetry on Spotify, but these are my favourite poems I’ve read recently:
Starfish by Eleanor Lerman
Romance by Susan Browne
Please tell me your favourite poem (and, if you have one, current Daylist)!
Thank you for reading Happy Endings. I’m actually within smooching distance of a (totally arbitrary) subscriber target, so if you enjoy this newsletter, I’d love it if you’d share it.
Me, again.
I love Annika too! For the same reasons you do. Brilliant.
