These weekend posts, a glimpse behind the scenes as I write a new novel or three, are for paid subscribers. If you are a paid subscriber - thank you! I appreciate it. If not, I would love it if you would consider upgrading. It costs just over £1 a week (less if you go for an annual subscription!)
If you would like a paid sub but can’t afford one right now, email me and I’ll sort you out.
I’m sorry to have to announce another week of doing not very much at all. I did at least have an important realisation, which is that whenever I start thinking that I must DO ALL THE THINGS. Read the books! Clean the house! All the work while crying! Oh my god, there’s so many films. And the podcasts! I simply can’t keep up with the podcasts! That means I need to not.
It means I need a break.
I will often think back to one particular productive day in the past. I think it was probably more than ten years ago? And I think, I did so much that day! If I could just manage to repeat that then everything will be fine. I just need to get on top of it all.
There is no getting on top of it all.
When I’m overwhelmed, I don’t need to get organised, I need to stop.
